When you first think of online casinos such as www.kingcasino.com and boats, you might not see much of a connection. Not immediately, anyway. But then, when you consider the history of casinos and realise that many of them started off life on paddle steamers on various US rivers (perhaps most notably the Mississippi) – this was done to circumvent various laws about gambling on land – you’ll see there is rather a strong connection after all.
Perhaps this is why casino cruise ships are so popular. There are many of them, after all, and they all promise to provide a lot of fun as well as giving some chances to see beautiful scenery and be ‘king of the world’! Here are some of the best to try out.
Sunborn Superyacht Casino Cruise
The Sunborn Superyacht Hotel and Casino is permanently docked at the Ocean Marina Village in Gibraltar. Although you might not get the true sailing experience, on a clear day you can see right the way to Morocco, so the views are still impressive.
Inside the yacht there are a number of games to play. In total you have 58 slots, four gaming tables (which include blackjack), three games of American roulette, and three poker tables. This might not be the biggest casino cruise ship in the world, but it is stunning nonetheless, and you can stay onboard should you want to – there is even a penthouse measuring 74m2.
Norwegian Escape
At first glance you would be forgiven for assuming the Norwegian Escape would take you across the fjords in the icy depths of Scandinavia. However, it’s actually a cruise ship to be found in Florida – Miami, to be exact. Rather than the cold cruise you might have imagined, the Norwegian Escape will take you to the Bahamas and around the Caribbean. It’s a big ship, able to hold 4,266 guests. So with that many people, you should expect a lot of games to play.
In this, at least, what you expect is what you get. There are 318 slot machines and 28 gaming tables for poker, blackjack, and craps. There are even some more obscure games here, so if you’re looking for something different, you’ve found it.
High rollers love the Norwegian Escape too; the maximum bet is £5000, but don’t worry – you don’t have to go anywhere near that high to play.
Queen Mary 2
Sailing from Southampton to New York across the Atlantic, you might get a distinctly ‘Titanic’ feel about this particular cruise. It’s a Cunard vessel, though, not White Star, and it’s as safe as any cruise ship can be, so there is no need to worry.
What you do get is glamour. You’ll be treated wonderfully for the entire voyage, and you’ll feel just like a movie star the entire journey. One of the ways that this ship is special is its casino. Called the Empire, it’s small (there are nine gaming tables in total) but perfectly formed and ideal for adding to that glamourous feeling.
