Naughty Northumbrian Preview – Mick and James on Tour

The Naughty is certainly as it’s name suggests.  For 2018 we’ve moved the base to LinnBriggs farm, where messrs Singer ply their trade.

It’s a little further up the valley than last years venue, and space is a little tighter but that means that everything is less spread out, and the Wylam Beer Barn forms the focal point of the entire venue. If you’re lucky, the MOD may also decide to fire some shells on the weekend, meaning a nice fire work display may also be in order.

Last year we put out feedback forms post race, and I’m a big believer in that sometimes opinion has to give way to fact, and we needed to make some changes. So we have.

The mental stage 3 has been heavily modified to be a little more inclusive to anyone who’s name isn’t Sam Hill while the favourites of 2 and 5, situated in Milkhope remain. There are 3 new stages – and they are big. One stage has only 15m less vertical than Fort Williams World Cup DH track, to give you an idea.

So, you’ve got 3 technical wooded trails and 3 wide open, long ,sometimes rocky, descents.  On a good day you’ll easily see Galashiels to the North West, and Newcastle to the South East. But, maybe you should focus on what’s in front of you.

We’ll have films on Friday night, coits set up, table tennis, Swedish candles and a chilled vibe. Wylam will be on hand with the lubrication and some great food vendors on hand. North Shore coffee will be providing the Flat Whites and cake (possibly the best cake you’ll ever eat) will be coming from Stoney Oak Cakery.  All local, all good.

On Saturday, after practice, local musician Boys Ride Bikes will take to the stage, we’ll be drawing a raffle with some amazing prizes from Scott, Bergamont, Vittoria tyres and ourselves . You can swim in the pools of the Coquet that are right next to the site, play coits and carry on any table tennis rivalries.  There will be a bike wash complete with biodegradable and eco friendly cleaning company Kingud product.

Sunday. Well that’s all about the bragging rights. Sport Ident timing means no arguing. Finish with a huge grin, grab a beer and enjoy more live music on this bank holiday Sunday.

That’s all of course if you manage to squeeze one of the last few entries via SiEntries.

Go on, what a chance to get on the clock while being totally of the grid.
